When this couple began planning their wedding, they knew they wanted a celebration that embraced the unique charm of New Orleans while creating an unforgettable experience for their 60 guests. Having already selected the historic and character-filled Soulet Muse, they turned to Tonga Christy of Epiphany Events LLC to bring their vision to life.

Working together over the course of a year, the couple played an active role in the planning process, carefully selecting vendors and collaborating on every detail that would define the start of their next chapter.

Designing Around the Venue's Unique Character

The inspiration for the wedding was rooted in the venue itself. Soulet Muse's rustic architecture, charming courtyard, and authentic New Orleans atmosphere provided the perfect backdrop for a celebration that felt elegant, colorful, and distinctly local.

The design palette featured rich shades of gold, burnt orange, violet, fuchsia, and sage green, creating a vibrant and sophisticated look that complemented the venue's historic surroundings. From floral installations to carefully curated décor elements, every detail was thoughtfully selected to enhance the couple's desired aesthetic.

One of the most memorable design features was a custom-built backdrop created specifically for the venue's bathtub area. The bride envisioned taking photographs in the iconic tub, and Tonga designed a stunning specialty piece that transformed the space into a one-of-a-kind photo opportunity. The result was both artistic and personal—a true reflection of the bride's vision.

A Seamless Celebration Despite Unique Challenges

Like many historic venues, Soulet Muse presented its own set of challenges. The unusually shaped courtyard and limited event space required creative planning and strategic layout design.

Tonga and her team maximized every inch of the venue by incorporating farm tables, round tables, balcony highboys, and additional seating areas throughout the garden. The thoughtful floor plan allowed guests to move comfortably throughout the celebration while maintaining an intimate atmosphere.

The Louisiana summer heat also required careful consideration. To keep guests comfortable, the bride arranged custom hand fans that not only provided relief from the warm weather but also served as a beautiful and practical wedding favor.

A True New Orleans Experience

Guests arrived through the venue's garden area before gathering for a heartfelt 5:00 PM ceremony. Following the ceremony, the celebration embraced one of New Orleans' most beloved traditions—a lively Second Line parade led by the Kinfolk Brass Band.

The energetic procession served a dual purpose: creating an unforgettable experience for guests while allowing the planning team to efficiently transform the ceremony space for the reception. This seamless transition kept the celebration flowing effortlessly from one moment to the next.

Throughout the evening, guests enjoyed exceptional cuisine, live entertainment, signature cocktails, and the warm hospitality that makes New Orleans weddings so special.

Reflecting on the event, Tonga notes that one of her biggest takeaways was learning how to create a powerful visual experience within a uniquely shaped and limited footprint.

By embracing the venue's challenges rather than fighting against them, she was able to deliver exactly what the couple envisioned—a wedding that felt authentic, beautiful, and perfectly suited to the space.

Most importantly, the couple was thrilled with the experience from start to finish.
