ABC Chapter of the Year Award
Award Description:
The ABC Chapter of the Year award recognizes chapters that exemplify outstanding achievement in chapter planning and management, member participation, educational programs, and membership growth and retention. This award highlights chapters that have successfully achieved their goals and objectives in areas including membership, educational offerings, fundraising, community service, special events, communications, and marketing.
Nomination Overview (150 words)
Provide a concise overview demonstrating how your chapter exemplifies excellence. Address the following in your overview:
How did the chapter excel in planning and management throughout the year?
How active were members in programs, committees, and chapter initiatives?
What was the merit and impact of your educational programs?
How did the chapter achieve growth and retention of members?
This overview may be used in promotional materials, and ABC reserves the right to modify it for award communications. Highlight the chapter’s creativity, member engagement, and community recognition to set the tone for the full nomination.
Nomination Details (500 words)
Answer all prompts in order, leaving space between responses for maximum clarity:
Unique or Creative Activities:
Describe any activities, programs, or events from the past year that elevate the chapter to an award-winning level. Include examples of creativity or innovation.
Board Support and Community Recognition:
Explain how the chapter board has supported future leaders and volunteers.
Describe how the chapter has grown recognition within the local community.
Goals and Achievement:
Outline the chapter board’s goals for the year.
Describe whether each goal was achieved and any obstacles faced or overcome.
Communications:
Detail communications for the year (email, print, social media, etc.) including goals, frequency, and timing.
Explain how you keep members engaged beyond programs, including member and sponsor recognition, updates on industry trends, and marketing initiatives.
Program Highlights (500 words)
Top Three Programs:
List the program title, speakers’ names, and topics/themes.
Educational and Member Benefits:
Describe how each program aligned with one or more of the 7 core competencies of the CPCE program.
Highlight fundraising or community service elements.
Include impact on members’ professional growth and engagement.
Supporting Materials for Submission
To receive full credit, upload the following materials:
1–2 high-quality photos and 1 sample invitation for each highlighted program (total: 6 photos, 3 invitations)
1–2 samples of chapter communications (email, print, or social media)
Spreadsheet of all monthly programs including: speaker, total attendance, number of members, and number of guests
Spreadsheet detailing the annual chapter budget
Chapter Annual Update (provided by ABC staff), including:
New members and retention rate
CPCE participation percentage
Foundation donations per member
Attendance at ABC national programs/events
Who Should Apply
Chapters with active and engaged membership demonstrating growth and retention
Chapters that have executed high-quality educational programs, fundraising, or community service initiatives
Chapters with innovative or unique programs that strengthen the ABC community and enhance member professional development
Chapters with strong leadership and communications that effectively engage and recognize members and sponsors
